Christian Dior Couture Spring/Summer 2012
Paris, January 23, 2012

Despite the fact that Christian Dior will never be the same again since the rightfully-so departure of John Galliano, I personally feel that we should all accept this ‘new’ era in Christian Dior whether we like it or not. Having said that, I do miss the days when Dior used to be so much more then just a show. It was a theatrical experience that was so much then just about the clothes.

Obviously this theatrical aspect of Dior has been lost since Galliano’s departure however Haute Couture is about the finer details to me and these fine details are present in this collection. While it doesn’t have the “wow” factor that I miss, there are beautiful designs within this collection that are very classic, feminine and really rather beautiful. Despite this, I did feel like I was re-watching Dior’s Spring/Summer 2012 RTW collection at times and this angered me slightly because couture is meant to be a step-up from the normal Spring or Fall collection. This collection was pretty, but it lacked a certain passion that only Galliano can achieve.
